Going Plastic Free?

Going Plastic Free?

Plastic free July is almost over but of course there is much more we could and need to do. And it’s not always easy… You need to be organised, prepared, find the ‘right’ places to shop, and have time…

We have been looking at how as a co op we can support one another to be more environmentally aware.  Members can now have locally produced bread delivered to the field, buy eggs, fruit, honey, and lamb (when available).  We have experimented with Crowdfarming buying oranges and lemons direct from farmers in Spain – next up we are planning to adopt an Olive tree!
Now we are adding to the list with plastic free buying.  The next SUMA order will include co op ‘bulk’ purchases of washing up liquid (for individual refill) soap, wipes, along with some tinned foods.  And we have sourced some plastic free bags suitable for veg. weighing.  A first step to setting up a Plastic-free Shop with wider range of products for members!
